How does the drumless track maker work?

We run Demucs in 2-stem mode targeting drums. The drum stem (kick, snare, hats, cymbals, toms, percussion) is removed, and everything else — vocals, bass, guitars, keys — comes back as one clean MP3 you can drum along to.

Drummers use it for practice, songwriters use it as a tempo-locked backing track, and producers use it as a starting point to swap in their own programmed drums.

Frequently asked questions

Does the resulting track keep the original tempo?
Yes — only the drums are removed, the rest of the mix plays at the original tempo and pitch.
Can I add a click track?
Open the drumless export in our Audio Editor and use the metronome track at the song's BPM, or pull it into Backing Tracks for a generated drum part.
How long does separation take?
Most 3-4 minute songs finish in 1-3 minutes. Time depends on the file length and current backend load — long tracks (10+ minutes) can take up to 5 minutes.
Is my file uploaded somewhere permanent?
Files are processed on our backend and auto-deleted after the job completes. We don't store your audio long-term and don't use it to train any model.
