Frequently asked questions
What does the chord finder do?
Given any group of notes, it finds the chord names that match. It is the reverse of looking up a chord in a chord library.
Does it detect inversions and slash chords?
Yes. The lowest selected note is treated as the bass; if it differs from the chord root, you'll see slash-chord names like C/G.
Why do I get multiple chord names for the same notes?
The same set of notes can spell different chords depending on which note is the root. We list every reasonable interpretation.
Which key are these notes in?
Use the scales section below the results to see every key that contains all the selected notes.
