Image License

Last updated: August 2026

The chord diagrams published on eMusic.Tools are free to reuse, including commercially, as long as you credit us. This page states those terms: it is the license the structured data on every chord page points at.

1. What this license covers

This license covers the chord diagram images served from https://emusic.tools/chord-diagram/ - one PNG per chord per instrument, for example c-maj7-guitar-chord-diagram.png. It covers nothing else on eMusic.Tools: the code, design, logo, written music-theory content and educational materials remain governed by our Terms of Service.

2. What you may do

You may copy, publish, embed, print and redistribute the diagrams, on their own or inside your own work, and you may do so commercially: blog posts, lesson handouts, songbooks, slides, videos, apps. You may resize them and adapt their colours to your layout. No prior permission and no payment are required.

3. Attribution (what we ask in return)

Credit “eMusic Tools” next to the image or in your credits, and link to the chord page the diagram comes from - for example https://emusic.tools/en/chords/c-maj7 - or to https://emusic.tools. It has to be an ordinary, working link. Where a link is technically impossible, in print or on screen inside a video, a visible “eMusic Tools (emusic.tools)” credit is enough.

4. What this license does not allow

You may not redistribute the diagram library as a bulk download or a dataset, republish it as a substitute chord library, or sell the images as a stock or asset pack. You may not remove or obscure the credit, present the diagrams as your own work, or suggest that eMusic Tools endorses you or your product.

5. Getting different terms

Need the diagrams without the attribution requirement, in bulk, in a source format, or under a written agreement for your organisation? Write to contact@emusic.tools, or use the Contact page, and say what you need - that is where image licensing enquiries are handled.

6. No warranty

The diagrams are provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. We take care over fingerings and note spellings, but we do not guarantee that every diagram is correct in every context, and we are not liable for how the images are used.
