Frequently asked questions
- How does the rhythm trainer work?
- You hear a one-bar rhythm at 80 BPM and then pick which of four visual patterns matches what you heard. Each block's width is proportional to its note duration.
- What do the coloured blocks mean?
- Each block represents one note. Wider blocks are longer notes (whole or half notes), narrower blocks are shorter notes (eighths or sixteenths). The pattern you pick should match the rhythm you heard.
- What is syncopation?
- Syncopation means placing accents on beats or parts of beats that are not normally accented - often the "and" of a beat in 4/4. It gives rhythm a pushed or off-beat feel common in jazz, funk and pop.
